Souders Construction has proudly been serving the greater Lehigh Valley and surrounding areas for over 30 years. We are a residential and small commercial general contracting firm operating out of Macungie Pennsylvania. Our job spectrum spans a wide range of services and we have completed projects in virtually all categories of construction. The true value added benefit for our customers is the fact that we personally complete the job from start to finish. We involve ourselves in the design phase by coordinating with the architecture, engineering, and design teams to plan the project and determine a viable schedule. Once the build phase begins we are on site daily either performing the trade ourselves, or working directly with our subcontractors to ensure the task is completed with our eye to quality of craftsmanship and timeliness of the process. Upon completion of the project, we stand by our work and maintain an open line of communication with clients to ensure the project met their vision. Souders Construction was founded in 1986 by our owner/operator Mark Souders. Mark was born and raised in the Lehigh Valley and graduated from Allen High School in 1977. Leaving home shortly thereafter, Mark served in the United States Navy for several years and was stationed in Orlando, Florida. Upon completing his commitment to the Navy, Mark began working for Holiday Hair Fashions in their construction department.
Starting as a laborer traveling around the country building Holiday Hair beauty salons, Mark quickly raised through the ranks of the company and was eventually promoted to onsite job Foreman. In this capacity he oversaw the daily operations and was responsible for ensuring that jobs were completed to the companies strict specifications, while also managing both the scheduling duties and budget. When the owner of Holiday Hair Fashions bought the Sheraton Hotel in Allentown as part of his investment portfolio Mark was a natural choice to head the planned renovation project.
Both the transition and renovation of the Sheraton in downtown to the Hamilton Plaza Hotel went smoothly and the project was deemed a success. With his industry knowledge and experience growing with each project, Mark decided it was time to scratch the proverbial entrepreneurial itch he had been experiencing for several years since his departure from the service. He identified a gap in the residential and small commercial construction space within the Lehigh Valley and believed that his potential company could fill that void.
Souders Construction was born from this idea in Mark’s head that he could provide a customer-focused solution in the contracting services industry. What began with a contract to build a Bridal Shop in Reading Pennsylvania for Mark’s brother Michael has grown into an established General Construction company with projects ranging from small bathroom renovations to full office fit-outs. Mark has steadfastly remained in control of the business over the past 30 years and continues to run the day-to-day operations.
